The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) invites applications for a tenure-track group leader position (assistant professor level) in Structural Biology. Job description: The International Research Center for Medical Sciences (IRCMS) was established in 2015 as the center of excellence in Kumamoto University for world-class research in life sciences through the internationalization of its research environment and the establishment of global collaborations. The Center features an open lab layout with few walls and partitions between labs to facilitate communication among scientists. English is the official language for all seminars and lab meetings to promote international scientific discourse. The laboratory of Proteostasis in Stem Cell was newly establshed in 2021. We conduct research in hematology (especially hematopoietic stem cell biology and erythropoiesis) and fetal development. In this particular project, the successful candidate is expected to actively conduct our ongoing projects investigating roles of maternal environment in fetal organ formation. The lab is a part of International Research Center for Medical Sciences (IRCMS), so that the researcher will have a full access to our core facility and common research activities.
