水遊び、たらいに開いたアクアポリン

水が流れでる節穴のあいたたらいで遊ぶ幼子と母親。幼子は小魚が穴から出てしまわないように気を付けている。細胞膜にも、細菌から真核生物にいたるまで、水分子を選択的に通すアクアポリンと呼ばれる水チャネルが存在する。この母親が着ている着物と帯には、アクアポリンのモノマーの二次構造と三次構造の模式図がそれぞれ描かれている。さらに、細胞膜においては、アクアポリンはちょうど幼子の着物の柄のように四量体を形成して機能している。
