生命科学がもたらす冬眠研究の夜明け
Spring, that is the season of arousal for many living creatures. Even among mammals, some squirrels, bears and bats hibernate. This woman is researching hibernation of an individual of the Siberian chipmunk. The body temperature of hibernating chipmunk firstly drops to near ambient temperature, and reciprocally repeats the state of less than 10 °C (sustained hibernation) and the state of almost 37 °C (inter-bout arousal) like the chart on this drawing. We hope that life science will shed light on the mechanisms of various environmental adaptations of life.
