Editorial News
Genes to Cells is the official journal of the Molecular Biology Society of Japan, launched in 1996 and published by Wiley. Articles are typically published within one to two weeks after acceptance. We sincerely ask for the continued warm support of all members.
Editorial Policy
Genes to Cells welcomes submissions in all areas of life sciences. In addition to full-length papers, we also accept short-format articles with up to three figures or tables, as well as methodological papers.
We strive to maintain an editorial policy that is as author-friendly as possible. In addition to rapid publication, we make every effort to minimize excessive demands from reviewers on authors. If you ever feel that this policy has not been followed, please inform the Editor-in-Chief.
We also take into account the various limitations and circumstances that may affect research activities. If you encounter difficulties such as rejection from other journals or if you require an expedited review, please feel free to consult an appropriate Editorial Board member or the Editorial Office.
Publication Charges
There is no charge for publishing articles in Genes to Cells. Please note that articles are under paid access for the first six months after publication, after which they become freely accessible.
Authors may also choose the paid option of immediate Open Access. Depending on your institution, you may be eligible for substantial discounts under transformative agreements, and members of the Molecular Biology Society of Japan are also entitled to discounts.
Important Notes for Submission
Editorial Board Selection
Each manuscript submitted to Genes to Cells is handled by an assigned Editorial Board member (Editor or Associate Editor), who makes the final decision based on reviewers' comments. When submitting, please refer to the Editorial Board list and select a member whose research expertise is closest to your work.
You may also contact the Editorial Board member in advance and request that they handle your manuscript after submission. This can help shorten handling time, so we encourage you to consider this option. If no suitable member is found, you may simply write 'none' when submitting.
Manuscript Preparation
Please note the following points in particular:
The main text must be saved in Word format (.docx or .doc). PDF files are not accepted.
Tables, Figures, and Supporting Information (Supplementary Material) may be submitted in almost any file format. However, file size restrictions apply. Please see here for details.
Manuscripts posted on preprint servers are welcome. The use of generative AI for purposes such as language editing is also permitted.
